Our Story

Like so many great business ideas, Target Sports World comes from humble beginnings, but perfectly captured the public’s imagination and a growing need for excitement, exhilaration and adventure.

While Target Sports World itself was created a few years later, its origins began back in 2018 with founders Alan & Jill Gregory. Starting out as a small project offering crossbow lessons and archery tag for 2 hours per week in a school hall, it rapidly grew and grew in popularity. Alan & Jill began to see a bright future for themselves in building a business around something that was enjoyed by so many – not least themselves.

While they both had well-paid jobs in other industries, their combined passion for target sports, and for educating and empowering people, proved to be a winning combination when it came to turning their enthusiasm and skill into a successful business. It wasn’t long before they began to look for ways to grow their project into something truly special.

Turning a dream into a reality

After a couple of years Alan & Jill decided it was time to leave the school hall and start the search for premises to run a much larger target sports business from. This was not an easy process, as the pair had grand ambitions for the future, and there were a great number of practical considerations to factor in.

They eventually found the right premises in early 2020, just in time for the start of the pandemic. Rather than being disheartened, they used the time to build and train their staff, and were ready to open to the public when the lockdowns ended, and the Target Sports World which is known and loved by so many customers today was born.

The new business was a huge success. Not only was Target Sports World filling a gap in the market for a place where people of all ages and abilities could enjoy such a wide range of activities, but it also perfectly captured a new desire for adventure and excitement following the boredom of lockdown. While many leisure industries suffered during and after covid, destinations which could offer a different kind of exciting and exhilarating experience began to boom, and Target Sports World has been riding that wave of popularity ever since.

Realising they had created something special which could be replicated elsewhere in the UK, Alan & Jill set out their plans to expand. However, they were determined to preserve what made their business so unique, and wanted to attract talented individuals who could share in their passion and dedication. So, in 2024, the Target Sports World franchise was born!
